Planning A Yellowstone Fly Fishing Trip - Firehole River - Part 3
One of our favorite ways to fish the smooth sections of the Firehole River is to
fish the stream very late in the day and early evening. Huge quantities of
caddisflies hatch every day in late June and on through the Summer. The key is
to match the species that aremost prevalent.
There are White Millers, Spotted Sedges, Speckled Peters and Little
Short-horned and Green Sedges that hatch during this period. The trout will
usually take imitations of the pupae more readily than the adults but at times
they will take both.
