Planning A Yellowstone Fly Fishing Trip - Gibbon River - Part 2
The Gibbon River is about as pretty as a trout stream can get. Much of it is
along the loop road but there's also plenty of water a few hundred yards away
from the road. This image was taken below Gibbon Falls near the head of the
lower meadow just prior to its confluence with the Firehole River, which together
with the Gibbon Rivers forms the Madison River.
There's so much water in this area of the park to fish that this section of the
Gibbon River almost goes unnoticed. We rarely see anyone else fishing it. The
lower end of the river also seems to hold some larger trout than the section from
Elk Park to the Gibbon Falls.
