Planning A Yellowstone Fly Fishing Trip - The Madison River - 10
For the past few days I have written about the section of the Madison River
below Hebgen Dam and above Quake Lake. There are trout located all the way
downstream to Quake Lake, and of course, the lake itself has plenty of them. At
certain times the river is full of large trout that have moved out of the lake to
spawn. This would be the browns in the Fall and the rainbows in the Spring.
The image below is at the point the Madison River flows into Quake Lake. The
size of the trout in this area seem to average larger than they do in the river and
it's because at least some of them are the larger trout that live in the lake.
