Planning A Yellowstone Fly Fishing Trip - The Madison River - 9
The image shown below, taken a little later on in the season than the previous
ones I have shown during the last two or three days, reminds me of two things.
There are not any other anglers in view and you can see up the river for a long
ways. By the way, the other side of the stream in this location isn't easy to
access. You have to wade across the river and that isn't easy in most places.
That means most likely there were not any anglers fishing the other side of the
Madison that particular day.
By the way, in case you missed the last few post, this is the section of the
Madison River below Hebgen Dam but above Quake Lake.
The other thing it reminds me of is the huge amount of cover for the trout.
Rocks, boulders, logs, etc. are very plentiful. In this case, with no other anglers
to bother me, I just fished along the bank the easy way, but there are trout
scattered all over the river. I didn't have to wade to catch plenty of large
rainbows and a few large browns.
