.......................  ......Fly Fishing Yellowstone National Park

05/21/10

Yellowstone Season Starts Next Saturday, May 29th
Get ready for what should be a great fly fishing season for Yellowstone Park
and the surrounding streams and lakes. The snow pack for the year has finally
reached decent levels and it should be a good water year for the trout.

The Madison is still high and muddy. The Firehole will hopefully get in better
shape for the opening of the season and fish well. We think it will be close from
the reports we are getting.

The
discharge of the Firehole River is around 450 cubic feet per second and it
is about 3.5 feet high.

The
Madison is around 750 cubic feet per second and around 2.2 feet. These
are two of the first streams to get into good fishing condition by the opening of
the season in the park.

The upper section of the Henry's Fork opens May 29. The Harriman State Park
(old Railroad Ranch) opens on June 15th.

I will get some current conditions on the Madison River below Quake and
Hebgen Lakes within the next few days. Things are changing fast there.
