....................... ......Fly Fishing Yellowstone National Park
Destinations: East Walker River, California The East Walker River is one of the best trout streams in the states of California and Nevada. It's a tailwater that flows from Bridgeport Reservoir. The dam releases water that stays a fairly constant temperature and that provides good fishing throughout most of the year. There are special regulation in effect that helps protect the stream's trophy trout.
The river contains both brown and rainbow trout, but the prime species is the brown trout. The river flows through both low and steep declines with flats and canyon sections of water. Most all of the water is accessible in the state of California. The water in Nevada flows through both private and public fishing areas.
A variety of methods and techniques are used to fish the East Walker River. With the different types of water and constantly changing water levels, you must be willing to change strategies very often. There are times dry fly fishing is good but most of the time, nymphs and streamers outperform the dry flies.
